BLOOM - THE ABBOTSFORD TULIP FESTIVAL SAYS FAREWELL TO THE FRASER VALLEY WITH PLANS TO BLOOM AGAIN IN NORTHERN OKANAGAN

BLOOM - THE ABBOTSFORD TULIP FESTIVAL SAYS FAREWELL TO THE FRASER VALLEY WITH PLANS TO BLOOM AGAIN IN NORTHERN OKANAGAN

January 25, 2021 (Armstrong, B.C.) – After four years of hosting one of the Fraser Valley’s largest and most colourful outdoor events, the organizers of Bloom, The Abbotsford Tulip Festival are saying thank you and farewell to the community where it all started with plans to eventually rebloom in Northern Okanagan.

“It’s a bittersweet feeling to say goodbye to the incredible community that supported our vision for the lastfew years but we’re hopeful for the future of the event in our new community in Northern Okanagan,” said Alexis Szarek, Founder of Bloom, The Abbotsford Tulip Festival. “We want to thank all of our dedicated staff and volunteers who greatly contributed to our success in Abbotsford, as well as the many community stakeholders who helped us along the way.”

Bloom, The Abbotsford Tulip Festival held the first event in the spring of 2016 with the goal of bringing four generations of Szarek’s family’s passion for growing tulips to a broader audience. The outdoor event attracted up to 100-thousand visitors each year over six weeks from April to May who gathered to marvel at the 2.5 million rainbow coloured tulips in full bloom. The event employed over dozens of staff and volunteers every year, and had a significant impact on the local economy while boosting tourism and putting Abbotsford on a global stage for its reputation as an agritourism destination. The festival was featured on dozens of international publications and programs including CBC’s The Nature of Things with David Suzuki. Bloom is also proud to have contributed over $120,000 through volunteer hours to the Abbotsford Kiwanis Club, the Canadian Ski Patrol, Clearbrook Kiwanis Club and W. J. Mouat Dry Grad.

Several recent factors impacted the decision to permanently close the Abbotsford Tulip Festival, including the forced cancellation of the 2020 event last April due to the pandemic, as well as the uncertainty of the 2021 season. In addition, earlier this year the land where the festival had been held for four consecutive years was sold to new owners further compromising the future of the event. Szarek and her growing family have since relocated to Armstrong, B.C. where she and her husband, Marc hope to re-imagine Bloom for the Northern Okanagan community.

ABOUT BLOOM, THE ABBOTSFORD TULIP FESTIVAL
Bloom, The Abbotsford Tulip Festival was founded in 2016 by Alexis Szarek (nee Warmerdam), a passionate third-generation Canadian tulip farmer. During it’s four years in operation, the festival offered visitors a chance to witness a breathtaking techno-coloured display of over 2.5 million tulips in a beautiful country setting while attracting visitors from all over the world. Alexis’ vision for Bloom was to share her love of farming and inspire appreciation for the splendor of the tulip season while providing visitors with a chance to enjoy over 40 varieties of tulips in a beautiful country setting with their friends, family and colleagues. Alexis founded the Abbotsford Tulip Festival at just 28 years old and quickly became a leader for innovation in the agri-tourism sector. She has received numerous awards including the 2016 Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award from the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce; 2017 University of the Fraser Valley Distinguished Alumni Award; and was the 2017 Nominee for the Tourism Excellence Award from the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce. She was also a board member on the BC Young Farmers Committee (2016-2019), serving as Chair in 2018 and 2019. She also served as a board member on the Canadian Young Farmers Forum from 2017 to 2019. Most recently, Alexis earned a spot the “Farm Your Numbers Program” presented by the Canadian Young Farmers Forum. Alexis is considered a industry pioneers and leaves behind a memorable legacy as the founder of Bloom in Abbotsford. She is looking forward to new opportunities to share her passion for farming and country life in the Northern Okanagan within the next few years. For more information visit, abbotsfordtulipfestival.ca

PORTFOLIO BY OPENROAD EXPANDS TO OFFER NEW, BROADER CAR SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New Gold Tier and Portfolio On Demand program gives more consumers the flexibility to switch between three luxury cars every month for a simple monthly fee or daily rate.

March 2, 2020 (Vancouver, B.C.) – Following the success of the initial launch of Portfolio by OpenRoad - Canada’s first all-inclusive, multi-brand luxury car subscription service - OpenRoad Auto Group is pleased to expand the application-based program to offer two new subscription options – the new Gold Tier and Portfolio on Demand program, allowing more people the flexibility to drive up to three premium cars a month, for a convenient monthly fee or daily rate.

“We believe in the future of our car subscription service to meet the growing needs of drivers who are looking for strong options and greater choice,” said Christian Chia, CEO of OpenRoad Auto Group. “We’re pleased to expand Portfolio with an exciting new line up of mid-level luxury cars at a lower price point that will be attractive to more drivers seeking a convenient and flexible experience on the road.”

Since the program’s initial launch in January 2019 Portfolio has become British Columbia’s preferred car subscription service, offering members the flexibility to be in complete control of their vehicle-ownership experience. The innovative program began with a Platinum Tier that provided access to up to three premium luxury vehicles per month, including models like the Porsche Cayenne, Range Rover Sport, Mercedes AMG E 53 Coupe, Jaguar F-Pace S, Audi Q8, Lexus LC 500, and many more. To date, the exclusive program has been successful in servicing a broad range of clientele - luxury car enthusiasts, affluent professionals, and business executives - particularly those with client-facing professions.

As of today, Portfolio is expanding its service to include a mid-level line up as part of its new Gold Tier and Portfolio on Demand programs. The new inventory will include access to cars like the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Lexus IS, Mercedes A-Class and others, plus it will give drivers the option to flip up to three cars a month, starting at $1,499 per month or $149/per day. Like the Platinum Tier service, the Gold Tier and Portfolio on Demand will also include comprehensive vehicle insurance and maintenance, plus convenient pickup and delivery through a personal concierge service.

With the launch of the Portfolio Gold Tier and the Portfolio on Demand program, OpenRoad expects the subscription service will appeal to a larger demographic with its lower price point, daily fee option, and larger inventory of luxury vehicles. As with the Platinum Tier, space is limited in the new programs launching today. To register, download the Portfolio by OpenRoad application on your smartphone or visit www.portfoliobyopenroad.com

Reports show that today’s culture of instant response, desire for flexibility and an alternative to the traditional car ownership experience, are factors that are driving the appeal of car subscriptions. Portfolio is currently the only Canadian car subscription program offered by an automotive retail company in Canada, and the only all-inclusive, multi-brand car program to offer a lineup of multiple new cars models, representing a range of different brands.

For more information about Portfolio, visit PortfoliobyOpenRoad.com or download the application for iPhone and Android. High resolution photos are available on the Portfolio photo gallery. Interviews, demonstrations and test drives are available upon request.

Burrard Group transforms city skyline and sets precedent with construction of NEXUS Seattle

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Burrard Group transforms city skyline and sets precedent with construction of NEXUS, the first new mixed-use tower in Seattle’s burgeoning new East Village

Now 93% presold, Burrard Community Care Team launches to serve new homeowners.

August 1, 2019 (Seattle, WA) – With just months to go until the completion of NEXUS, the Burrard Group is in the final phase of construction of a new architectural landmark and next generation mixed-use condominium tower that will be the first of its kind to complete in an emerging new multi-billion dollar urban living core in Seattle’s East Village. Construction of NEXUS was recently topped off during a special ceremony attended by buyers and stakeholders where the precedent-setting project was celebrated as an iconic symbol of an exciting new era for the community.

Now standing tall at the corner of Minor and Howell Street, NEXUS has reached its maximum height of 440 feet and 41 stories high, offering never-seen-before city and ocean views from a dynamic new vantage point. With its series of sky high glass cubes each offset by 8-degrees, NEXUS is elevating the East Village to new heights and turning heads for its striking architecture, modern design, outstanding technology, incredible amenities and central location, while attracting a range of buyers from high tech executives, business professionals, to local and international investors.

“It’s exciting to see our vision for NEXUS come to life and to build the first new tower in the center of a burgeoning new community,” said Christian Chan, CEO of the Burrard Group. “We’re very pleased with the progress so far and look forward to welcoming our buyers into their new homes early next year.”

Since presales launched in June of 2016, the project has been largely credited for kick-starting the condominium presale market and has become one of downtown Seattle’s most successful high-rise presale developments with 93% of the 389 units already presold with only 28 homes remaining. The remaining units are premier condos and penthouses comprised of one, two and three bedroom homes ranging from $1 million to $2.7 million.

With construction at NEXUS now topped off and the remaining home inventory reintroduced, the Burrard Group has hired a Community Care Team to focus on assisting buyers through the final process of becoming new homeowners. This specialized team will host a series of special events over the next few months to provide homeowners with formal project updates and details about the move-in process, while giving them a chance to meet and mingle with their new neighbours.

Once completed, NEXUS will offer advanced modern design meets state-of-the-art technology to create a never before enjoyed Seattle lifestyle. NEXUS will serve as a vertical village, where luxurious units will be complemented by common spaces that include guest suites, co-working spaces, a media room, Sky Lounge, outdoor entertaining areas with fireplaces and barbecues, and more. The NEXUS 24/7 concierge and security staff will not only attend to daily hospitality needs but also programs current selections of music, lighting controls and digital artwork scenes that range from vibrant to serene - a daily encounter in perfect calibration to the changing case of the city. Burrard Group has also programmed a state-of-the-art, all-in-one NEXUS Resident App that allows homeowners to control in-home devices with the opportunity to control climate, lighting, entertainment, security and window coverings. The app also integrates with the building systems like building access, home-front door, gym equipment and package lockers, and booking of building amenities, scheduling of classes as well as connecting with their community. At the very core of NEXUS is a comprehensive collection of specialty purpose rooms, furnishings, equipment and technology programmed to add convenience and utility everyday - for live, work and play.

The new NEXUS Presentation Centre for sales of the remaining units is expected to open in the Fall of 2019. For more information about the NEXUS Seattle, visit www.nexusseattle.com. High resolution photos, interviews and site tours available upon request.

The up-and-coming professional race car driver from Richmond Hill, Ontario was chosen based on his outstanding performance during his rookie year in the 2018 Porsche GT3 competition where he secured two strong podium finishes. Di Meo’s first race with OpenRoad Racing will be on May 17th during the Victoria Day Speedfest Weekend at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario.

“We were really impressed with what Michael brought to the track during last year’s competition so when it came time to select a new lead driver, he was our top pick,” said Christian Chia, Founder of OpenRoad Racing and CEO of OpenRoad Auto Group. “We believe Michael has the skills and talent to become one of Canada’s top drivers, and we look forward to helping him reach his full potential during the upcoming race season.”

In 2018, Di Meo competed in his first Porsche GT3 Cup Canada and managed to secure two podium finishes while placing in the top five spots, five times. Di Meo succeeded in becoming OpenRoad Racing’s new lead driver following successful partnerships with professional race car driver, Remo Ruscutti from 2017 to 2018, and two-time Porsche GT3 Cup Champion, Scott Hargrove from 2014 to 2016. April 30, 2019 (Vancouver, B.C.) - Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Vancouver has been recognized for its prowess in bringing the world’s most venerable brand to life with the marque’s coveted ‘Inspiring Greatness Award’ for 2018. Reserved for the most engaging and outstanding dealer client activity that embodies the brand promise and attitude of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, the Vancouver team received the award for the festivities surrounding the opening of its new showroom that included the Americas-wide debut of the all-new Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

“It’s an honor to be singled out for the way we do business,” said Christian Chia, Principal of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Vancouver. “Our goal is not to be the biggest, rather, we strive to share the beauty and inspiration of the Rolls-Royce brand with every one of our clients and potential clients.” He added, “We had the distinct honor of introducing the new Cullinan to all of the Americas during the opening of our magnificent new showroom. It was a perfect intersection of events for the brand.”

In creating this truly inspirational event for Vancouver, Canada and the entire Americas, Chia commented, “Cullinan was our muse, an unparalleled catalyst to inspire greatness through creativity and results.” The event reflected two facets of Cullinan, offering a Diamond Room and an Adventure Room. The world had never before seen a vehicle showcased on an onyx diamond LED platform imported from Brazil. The celebration also included a custom Rolls-Royce infinity mirror room of 88 candles endlessly illuminating a Spirit of Ecstasy living sculpture. Snow fell from the gobo-inspired sky while a 3D deer looked on from a cinematic mountain range inside the forested Adventure Room. All the while, guests sipped a flaming pine-infused mezcal while dining on lobster claw charcoal sliders, A5 wagyu sushi and salmon lollipops with silver leaf cotton candy.

“In 2018 Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Vancouver inspired not only its clients, but also the entire Rolls-Royce family with this program,” said Martin Fritsches, President and CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor America. He added, “We are a brand that each of our clients aspire to in their own way. We build cars that inspire people who do great things. And it’s only fitting when we recognize that inspiration excellence among our family of dealers.”

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ new facility in Vancouver remains a showcase for the brand. Inside the Bespoke lounge, clients personalize their new vehicle from more than 44,000 available exterior colors and a wide variety of textiles and interior materials ranging from the highest quality leather to high-tech carbon fiber. Working together with a team of expert colour, material and design consultants in Goodwood, Home of Rolls-Royce, the Bespoke process is what makes these cars exclusive and unique. In 2018, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars delivered significant bespoke activity in North America in more than 80% of all vehicles commissioned.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Vancouver is one of 44 Rolls-Royce Motor Car retail partners in the Americas, including 37 in the United States, 4 in Canada, 2 in South America and one in Mexico. Last year the company delivered 4,107 units for a record year of growth. The Americas remains the largest global region for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars where about one-third of all commissions are delivered. Rolls-Royce Motor Cars develops and delivers the world’s ultimate luxury vehicles. Each Rolls-Royce Motor car is hand crafted at the company’s state-of-the-art assembly facility in Goodwood, England.

Christian Chia, CEO of OpenRoad Auto Group named EY Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2018 Pacific Winner

Christian Chia, CEO of OpenRoad Auto Group named EY Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2018 Pacific Winner

The automotive retail industry entrepreneur is being recognized for his innovation and success in a highly competitive and rapidly changing industry.

VANCOUVER, BC (Sept. 28, 2018) - Christian Chia, Chief Executive Officer of OpenRoad Auto Group Limited, British Columbia's largest-volume dealership group, has earned the prestigious distinction as the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2018 Pacific winner. Chia was chosen as the Pacific region’s top entrepreneur and an industry trailblazer from an elite group of 35 finalists based on his proven success and leadership in the automotive retail and service industry.

“It is a tremendous honour to be recognized amongst such an esteemed group of entrepreneurs,” said Christian Chia, CEO of OpenRoad Auto Group. “At OpenRoad, we’ve worked very hard to stay ahead of competition and to offer a superior car ownership experience at every turn, so this award is truly a testament to the dedication of the entire OpenRoad team.”

Established in 1978 as Multiland Investment, the small, family-run business of one car dealership eventually grew to four stores and three brands by the time Christian became president in 1998. He then led the transition from Multiland to OpenRoad in 2000 and has since paved the road for explosive growth. Today, OpenRoad is the largest auto retailer in BC, with 26 retail locations, including 23 dealerships and 3 collision centres.

"Christian is taking a fresh approach to differentiate OpenRoad in a mature market," says Lui Petrollini, Entrepreneur Of The Year Pacific Program Director. "Loyalty marketing, predictive analytics and multi-channel platforms are just some of the tactics he's embraced to create a personalized and trusting experience — both online and in-store."

OpenRoad continues to invest in a culture of experimentation by implementing tools, such as a first-in-Canada custom payment platform known as Payment Engine and a custom peer-recognition social application called the OpenRoad Heart program, and with employee learning like their internal Leadership Development Program.

"One of OpenRoad's biggest strengths is understanding its people," says Petrollini. "Buying a car is a big investment decision for many people, and the experience often doesn't end at the point of purchase. Christian aims to build on that by delivering an engaged and meaningful car ownership experience from one end of the customer journey to the other."

Christian's perseverance to experiment and explore new markets has allowed OpenRoad to overcome the size and legacy of longstanding competitors in the BC market. The company now employs 1,300 staff and has recently expanded into Washington state where the company now owns and manages Bentley of Bellevue, Lamborghini Bellevue, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Bellevue and McLaren Bellevue.

As the Pacific region's EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2018 winner as well as earning the top spot in the Business to Consumer category, Christian will now compete with top entrepreneurs from the Prairies, Ontario, Atlantic and Quebec regions for the national honour of EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2018 Canada, to be presented at a gala celebration on 29 November 2018 in Toronto. In June 2019, Canada's EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2018 will move to the world stage to compete with more than 50 country recipients for the title of EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year.
